3rd time this has happened since Windows 10 install 6 months ago - all keys on the keyboard i had been typing on earlier today suddenly do not work. Keyboard disappears from list of installed devices. Reconnecting does nothing. Reboot does nothing.

can you try reinstalling the drivers in device manager?
