Music Sound quality on Lumia 1520

I highly value the sound output of a phone and how it can drive pro headphones. So I went to ATT store and took my Sony headphones with me.
I was pleasantly surprised by the dynamic range and quality of the sound. It is rich and satisfying. it can drive big headphone nicely.
Bass was not only present but it was clean and un-clipped, punchy and full. I did not go over 27 on volume since it was very loud already.
I did not keep my 920 for this reason; 1520 is miles ahead of 920 in music sound output.

I tested the sound with some Bose Headphone and I very happy with the sound on the 1520, the stock speaker is loud also.

Without exaggeration I would say that 80% of what I do with my Lumia 920 is music, either Xbox Music, Nokia Music (which seems to have better playlists for some reason) or watching music videos. The reason I even got a Windows Phone was because I wanted a "Zune phone." I am really glad to hear the 1520 has good music output because that is a crucial feature.

Comparing to my titan, it was very comparable; maybe a little cleaner.

My Titan drives my Sony MDR-V6s (very similar to yours but arguably better for music whereas yours are more of a true studio monitor) pretty well. I did not know the 920 was weak. Glad to hear the 1520 is good. The MDR-V6s are quite sensitive anyway. They sound perfect with a flat EQ for all music (I noticed you EQ'd your 7506's).

How loud does the audio go. My Lumia 920 did not have very loud audio, and the only solution was an external amp. I hope the 1520 will be better.

I just noticed that EQ. Nokia chose some really bizarre bands. 7k on the high end isn't high enough and some of the mid-range has too much coverage...weird.

I have a pair of beyerdynamic COP, which I like but also want a pair of m50's. I might watch shows that I downloaded on my 1520, rather than on my nexus 7 which will be sold soon, if the 1520 will be suffice.

Thank you for testing the audio quality und loudness. This was always a problem with the Lumias. I hope it is very loud in Europe too!

Edit: I found the noise floor of the 1520 high but that was with sensitive headphones. OK with normal-sensitivity headphones. I need to test against some other phones with my sensitive headphones to compare fairly.

just windows phone have very bad equalizer.. u can control from 400hz to 7Khz. we know that we can hear from 20hz to 20Khz, and even cheapest china phones and mp3 players have 14Khz, or 16Khz control. 7Khz is not a high frequency. it's funny! there's no device in the world with such a terrible equalizer! and nobody's paying attention to this! my 1520 is perfect, but equalizer is not usable anymore! dolby enhancer gives some high freqs, but it adds lots of bad effects, and if u are a real music fan, you'll never use dolby! hope windows 10 will fix this!

p.s. before update there was 50, 150, 350hz control, but now after few updates it strats from 400hz. high is the same-7Khz.

It seems my 1520 used to have white noise playing out the speakers anytime the phone was on - very quietly. I had to put my ear up to the speakers to even hear it, but it was there. It doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. Did anyone else ever notice this?

I definitely agree. The 1520 is miles ahead of the 920 in terms of audio quality and loudness.

The 920 had low volume and coming from an iPhone I didn't adjust to it pretty good. I checked the GSMArena review of the 920 and I was right.. They stated how the 920's audio quality is really subpar for its price. The 1520 was a breath of fresh air for me when I upgraded. Very good audio quality.
