I'm in the UK worth an official UK device and it's not working for me :/

The point wasn't UK specifically, but changing the language into something new. But it seems the update it installed (successfully) was a language update, not the 8.1 Update 1...

I was a little too fast, because that thread wasn't started by a MS person. I couldn't find one official thread either.

Yes, unfortunately it was a false alarm (but it really looked like it worked) :/

I have the Samsung Ativ S (UK) and I'm getting the same error, can download the update and have the option up to install. The cogs appear for about 30seconds then the phone resets. Error code 0x80188308

Got the 8018830f error too. Lumia 925 (Denmark). Tried multiple times. Also altered the language to no avail.

I am having this issue as well.

I don't think there is anything we can do about it.
We just have to wait for MS to fix it.

MS are asking for help to fix it as soon as possible

Same here... T-Mobile Lumia 521... "The update was downloaded but couldn't be opened"... I got a different error number though: 8018822e
I'm now trying again.

I tried again and it went through this time. I'm already at "Migrating your data (Steps 15 of 21)".

Hey all! Sucks so many of us are having this issue! It's not fair - damn you MS - test your updates on many devices in many regions before making them live.

The update gave me the same error message on my Lumia 822 (WP 8.1 DP and Black). Only had 1.2GB free space beforehand and region is US. I noticed a few people with 822s in this thread having this issue, so not surprised mine is having it too.

Are you sure that's not a language pack update

I appears to me that most (but not only) L925 are infected with this update bug.
I think we just got to be a little patient and wait for a fix. Hopefully WPCentral makes some noice over this issue so I might get further Microsoft attention

Nope Canadian Lumia 920s seem to have a problem too.
