Windows Central Question

Very basic question: When I install Windows 10 from the download provided after July 29th by my Microsoft "reservation," am I doing an "upgrade" of my current Windows 7 OS or am I doing a "clean install"? Will my current programs and files be retained?? I will, of course, backup before the install, just want to be sure I don't lose anything important. Thanks!!

It's an upgrade. It's NOT a clean install. Your installed software and settings will be retained.
Since you're also sophisticated enough to make a backup before the update you have nothing to worry about 😉
