Avoid explicit content in ads?

I'm wondering whether there's a way to avoid explicit content in ads that appear at the bottom of the screen in 3rd party apps? I ask this because I don't use my phone to view that type of content, so I don't really understand why it appears as an advert. It has caused me embarrassment on several occasions, including when I had to use a countdown timer app in a job interview and an advert for "sexy local singles" was present at the bottom of the app screen.

On a side note, its probably also not great for anyone who lets their kids on their phone.

Any help is much appreciated

Well, I know of one trick that can help you with this for some of the apps (Not really sure about others).

Disabling the mobile data helps removes the ads since such ads are loaded from the internet. I cannot guarantee it will work for all the apps but give it a shot. Try it out with the countdown app which gave you problems.

Other than that, buying a full version is the best way as they do not have any ads in them.
