Can I get some help setting up my outlook.com email?

I have got an outlook.com email account set up, but when i go to my outlook emails to view them. Where you look to see how many emails i have got it is showing (o) but i have got these emails from companies. And i do not know if i have correctly set this outlook.com account correctly, and i need some assistance to correctly have this set up. Thankyou

Have you had a look in the Junk folder?
