Why is win10 keep changing my settings?

[Windows Central Question]

when i change settings on my laptop such as some mouse settings(to keep my trackpad enabled) or that i have to sign in when the laptop is waking from sleep, windows changes it back every other day or so, is there a way to stop it from doing that? or is it an error of some sort?

I notice the same thing. I'll change the default app for photos or music, and a few days later it's back to the default Windows apps, which I don't want.

Here's the deal. I have my laptop set up as a metered connection so that it doesn't download updates unless I manually change it.

While I have the same issue as is being reported in this thread, it doesn't happen as often, because I only allow my laptop to download updates once per week. When I get a "cumulative" update, many settings get reset to defaults again, and I have to go back and fix them again.

So the bottom line is that this happens with certain Windows updates.

I recommend each of you (and I'll do it as well) send Microsoft feedback asking them to fix the issue where updates reset system settings that you have configured, because that is what is happening.
