Hello,

My mother uses a 925 and she is looking to upgrade mainly due to no SD Card slot.

She takes a lot of pictures and video of the grandchildren and even though I've emptied her phone to a USB (for printing), she'd like to not have to do that.

For someone who only uses their phone for calls, texts and photos. Out of the three in the title, which would you suggest?

My thoughts: I found the 830 refurbished for less than $300 and this it's a good upgrade. I wonder about the 640XL's camera compared to the 925, which she is happy with. I really like the 950, but she's not willing to pay more than $400, so it'll be a while before she could get that one and it may be a lot more than she needs.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I would switch to the 830 because of its similar size (its a bit taller) and it also has a similarly nice camera.

The 640 XL doesn't have a bad shooter, but its only benefit is the resolution bump to 13 MP over the 830's 10 and the 925's 8.7.
The 830 has OIS, like the 925 and is IMO the superior choice - the 640 XL doesn't have a camera button also.

You can get a good condition 830 for probably just under $200. ATT branded ones are cheaper than the unlocked models because of software updates and all - but the savings may be worth it, but probably not. (but if you do get one, its worth using flashing it to a new firmware as stated on the forums here.)
