New message notification icon stuck on screen, how can I get rid of this?

New message notification icon stuck on screen

When I woke up yesterday morning, my phone told me I have 1 new text message. But I don't. The icon won't go away no matter how many times I soft reset. The notification is stuck on the glance screen, lock screen, and the messaging app live tile.

Any solutions?

I have the same problem on my Lumia 640. Are you running a Windows 10 build?

Yes, Windows insider and my phone is a Lumia 640XL. I've also noticed that when I get new messages, instead of the icon updating to say 2 or 3 new messages, it's always just stuck on 1.

It also seems like new text messages aren't coming through normally.

This has just started happening to me today. I am using a Lumia 1520 with build 10536. It happened after receiving an actual message.
