notification question--who or what is trying to access my contacts?

i have my app permissions turned off (and silent) for the most part, but left the sound on for the contacts, so if someone/thing tries to access them, there is a notification sound. i will have the phone sitting idle and the notification sound will come on and repeat many times. when i look at the notification center, it shows 'access to contacts currently off' or similar, i cannot figure out who/what is trying to access, as no other phone actions are taking place at the same time. any ideas? thanks!

It could be many things... Possibly your email account is trying to sync. Some messaging or social media app may be interacting with your contacts as well.
