Can I use my current AT&T sim in a Lumia 550

[Windows Central Question]

I sadly went from a Lumia 1520 to a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + and I do not like it. Because I am on the AT&T Next plan, I have $600+ more to pay before an upgrade so now I am looking to get a cheaper unlocked Lumia like the 550 or 640. If I were to purchase an unlocked 550, would I be able to just take the sim from my Samsung and use it in like a 550? AT&T says yes, if the sim fits. Has anyone ever done this and if I know for sure it works, I am for sure going to be getting either the 550 or 640 until the Surface phone comes out.
