remove account from windows phone

Hello,

I want to remove the account from my older lumia 640 phone so I can give it to a family member, however is there a way to reset the phone while keeping the updates / OS version and not letting it revert to WP8.1 ?
If this is not possible, is it still possible to update from 8.1 to 10 if I do a hard reset?

If you just reset the phone using the option in the Settings, the phone will stay on the current OS. The only way to downgrade/revert is to use a tool on a computer.

Factory reset. I believe its labeled as "reset your phone" but I could be wrong. Either way, there's no way you're going to be able to revert to 8.1 without plugging into a PC and downloading a couple GB file.
