When I am typing a document sometimes I hit a key that causes all the text that has not been autosaved to disappear and is unrecoverable. What is that key? Any solutions?

Are you using any online office suites?

If so the key I can think of is the back space key and I've had that happen a few times randomly with firefox it's usually when I'm typing a long how to quide... come to think of it... it's always on a how to post . As I tried selecting a different tab and pressing the backspace key - nothing. However clicking outside the text box and then pressing the backspace key - caused a prompt asking to leave the page.

So If I was to guess when you click on a non text field and press the back key - you end up losing the text?
