Android phone user with band wanting Walk Reminder

I use a android phone, always have, always will, but I have the Microsoft Band, and want the Walk Minder(the this that tells you to get off your lazy butt from time to time), my sister, and brother-in-law both have Microsoft phones, so can I sync my band with one of their phones, add walk reminder to my band, and use it, or does it have to be on my phone too?

I believe it is just based on Band detecting your last movement...

Theory: Band is strapped to you and your phone may not take all the steps you do.

Issue: You have to Factory Reset your Band to sync to a sibling's phone, then Factory Reset to sync to yours, thus undoing any changes.
