Windows Central Question

I upgraded from Windows 7 and now my desktop won't display anything after I log in. It may for a second or two, but then the screen goes black. I Ctrl+alt+delete to get back to the "front" screen, and the spotlight (?) And login screen work just fine, but when I log in it goes black after a few seconds. Help, please!

open task manager and check if explorer.exe is running, if not, you'll need to start it up. File > run new task > explorer.exe

This might or might not work

The next thing you can try, is creating a new user account (control panel) with admin rights and check if the issue is still present in that ua

If you can see the task manager, that is a good thing. Try creating a new task called explorer and everything should be fine. If that doesn't work, follow the steps :

1. Press windows key+r

2. Type rstrui

3. If you see the window open. just follow the instructions to restore your pc to an earlier point.

4. If you don't see anything, just keep pressing the ENTER key.

5. This should restore your pc and it should restart with everything visible!
