- Nothing too fancy and it was initially made as a budget build at first, made to do mainly basic stuff and has gone through a bit of a gaming upgrade thanks to a friend who upgraded his and gave me a bunch of stuff so it has turned into a bit more of a gaming setup now. It may seem like a bit of a mess but it does what I want it to. It's a bit of an older build at this point and probably looking like it's time to upgrade some things soon but for now here goes;
The Goods;
Motherboard: ASUS A88X-PRO
CPU: AMD A10 7750K
GPU: XFX AMD Radeon HD7870 2GM (x2)
RAM: 16 GB G. Skill Ripjaws X
PSU: XFX Pro Black Edition 850 W
Storage: Seagate 1TB (x2) + Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
Case: Thermaltake Commander MS II

- I can't bring myself to game much on my PC, it's just too cumbersome. I like having my desktop plugged into my TV for media consumption, so there's no monitor/desk setup for me to comfortably game. Here's what I'm sitting on at that moment:
Case: Rosewill Blackhawk Mid Tower
PSU: Corsair HX750W 80 PLUS Gold
Motherboard: ASRock Extreme4 Z97
CPU: Intel i5-4670K (stock)
GPU: ASUS Radeon HD 5850 (mild factory overclock)
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 1866 (though not clocked to it)
SSD: Kingston 120 GB (might be upgrading soon)
HDD: Western Digital 640 GB Black (upgrading soon to a WD 3 TB Blue for mass media storage)
Mouse: Logitech G502 Proteus Core (about to upgrade to the G700S)
Keyboard: CM Storm Devastator (about to upgrade to a Steelseries Apex)
No time for pictures right now, plus it needs some dust removal hardcore.- Share

- Ed BolandRetired AmbassadorI've been itching to do a new build, but I really haven't had much gaming time (or extra money to burn!), so it's been getting put off and put off.
My current build is going on 4 or 5 years old now. Still running great! Though I can't run some of the latest titles because my video card is a DirectX 10 card, and a lot of new games require DirectX 11 hardware. Funny thing is my old card is faster than a lot of new DirectX 11 cards... still..
Anyway, here's my "Flagship" gaming rig I built 4-5 years ago:
Case: CoolerMaster HAF 932 (has 3 monster 230mm fans!)
M/B: EVGA X58 SLI
PSU: Thermaltake Black Widow 850w modular
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 currently @stock speed
RAM: 6GB (3x2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR3 @1600Mhz
HDD: W/D 150GB 10k RPM Velociraptor (SSDs were still too pricey when I built this rig. This is still one of the fastest mechanical drives on the planet)
HDD: W/D 1TB 7200 RPM Black
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 (Dual GPU - runs SLI in a single card solution! Was the top of the line flagship card from Nvidia at the time)
Display: 27" AOC LED 1080p (2ms response time)
DVD: 16x burner
Logitech K/B & Mouse - run of the mill. Nothing fancy
Wired Afterglow Xbox 360 Controller for some games- Share

- rhapdogRetired Senior AmbassadorNice case. That's one thing about a quality case. It generally will never need updating.
I had the Cooler Master HAF xB for a few years. Loved the open workbench style if I opened up the top and sides. So easy to tinker in. And as a computer tinkerer, I did a LOT of tinkering. Constant upgrades. Until... yeah a couple of years ago I sold it and haven't done a gaming rig since.- Share

*****************************************************************************
My completely air cooled, custom built, Mid-high end gaming PC. (Original build 2010)
*New specs as of March 16, 2016*
•Case - CoolerMaster HAF 932 advanced w/3 gigantic 230mm fans (one of which lights up red LED!) and one 120mm fan. This beast is probably the last full size ATX tower case I'll ever need.
•Motherboard - EVGA X58 SLI LE (Intel ICH10R) LGA1366 (easily one of the best boards I've ever owned!)
•Processor - Original Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core (Bloomfield) stock @2.67Ghz (had it overclocked @3.6Ghz at one point, but I'm using stock cooling, and it's a 5year old CPU now, so I'm running it at stock speeds and it still performs amazingly!!
•Memory - 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 @1600Mhz (upgraded from 6GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 which would only run stable @1066Mhz)
•GPU - EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB SSC ACX2.0 (SSC = Super SuperClocked +140Mhz (1190Mhz GPU Clock, 1753Mhz Mem. Clock)
•SSD - 250GB Samsung V-NAND SSD 850 EVO
•HDD Storage - 3TB Western Digital Blue spinner
•PSU - Corsair CX850M 850w modular
•OS - Windows 10 Pro 64bit Version 1511 (build 10586.164)
Still working on cleaning up my cable routing etc.Last edited by Ed Boland; 03-26-2016 at 03:01 PM.
03-26-2016 12:06 PMLike 0 - Rich EdmondsPC EditorI'm going to revive this sticky, especially now I'm at the point where I'm comfortable with the current rig. Replaced pretty much all components on my old custom PC, which was put together in its previous form back in 2012. It was an AMD-powered system (I was total Team Red) with an overclocked FX-4100. Served me well enough, but it was time to upgrade.
Enter the i5-6600K, currently overclocked to 4.8GHz without stability issues, though I look at bumping up the chip further when finally replacing the R7 265. Here's a run down of my current build:
CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K 4.8GHz
Cooler: Corsair H75i
GPU: ASUS AMD R7 265
Motherboard: ASUS Z170 PRO GAMER
PSU: EVGA 750W
RAM: Patriot VIPER 4 Series 2400MHz (4x 4GB)
Storage: 2x 240GB SSD, 1x 120GB SSD, 2x 320GB HDD
(Need to replace case fans with some Corsairs soon. Will take better shots tonight.)- Share

- @Golfdriver97, yeah I think you're right, it might've been on AC.
That's how my brother is, he has a good PC build but his case limits what he can put in there.
If you find space to upgrade, what do you plan to get?- Share

I think, if anything, I would upgrade to an M.2 drive. I am limited on space in the case that I selected. The 1050Ti I put in barely fits with both cages in place.
If I did upgrade the card, it would be to a higher 10 series; perhaps 1070.- Share

Case Fan: Err... 2x 12cm fan that I picked up from an electronics store for the cheap...

Joystick: Microsoft Sidewinder ForceFeedback 2
Wheels: Logitech Momo Racing Force Feedback Wheel and Pedal09-05-2017 01:24 AMLike 0 - Update: Did a few modifications...

I also got a Corsair Commander fan controller and some RGB fans. I also bought some CableMod cables and have everything colored orange; just because Red and Blue seem so overdone.
10-31-2017 09:12 AMLike 0 - Mine is nothing special but it lets me do the things I want it to:
CPU: Core i5 2500K
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Rev 3.1
RAM: 8GB OCZ DDR3-1600
