I think we can do more with a larger screen on the Windows Phone, juts like on Android, so I draw something this afternoon and share it with you :D I call this feature is Interactive Screen.

1. We can access this feature from the Action Center - TƯƠNG T?C - or on the start screen, slide right to left to access your last Interactive Screen. If this is the first time you access this feature.

2. Tap to create new Interactive Screen or use the old one. You can remove it if you do not need it any more.

3. This is an example two apps are running, one is Youtube and one is messaging

4. Tap on the icon on the left corner to add / remove (an) app immediately

5. Tap on the three dots to access context menu. Tap on Settings (C?i đặt) to return the setting - Picture 2 above.

Have fun, I'm glad to see your comment and advice. G9 :)

I like how people are taking shots at the splitscreen feature, but I'm still concerned it brings a degree of complexity that is out-of-place.

Also, many apps probably aren't going to like the sudden change of available screen space and render incorrectly.

I feel its something that has to be there from the get go (a la Windows 8 apps) to work best.

The best thing to do with such features is to leave them as options hidden away in Settings, but keep/add them for the day the user decides to tap into that extra power.

When a consumer first boots up a Windows Phone, they should get see something that is as simple and 'limited' as Windows Phone 7. Beneath ithowever should be a complex and capable OS, one that is only accessible to the user seeking that power and granular authority over their phone.

A good way to approach this would be to layer the Settings section into 'regular' (i.e. WiFi, Cellular, About, Internet Sharing, Bluetooth, etc) to 'advanced' (i.e. split-screen, VPN, custom keyboards?. custom calendars?, full background app activity, etc).

That said, I do agree on the need for actual apps designed for the new interface. Perhaps a specific UI format for apps when put in split screen mode (akin to what we see on Windows 8)?

I imagine if we ever see split screen apps they will snap like windows rt/8. And I do believe we will see them but it may be limited to a certain screen size. With the addition of 7in screen support in gdr1 I believe the windows phone OS is being primed to replace rt and we will see some features from Rt possibly on 5in screens and up

How it works
1) Slide in from the left to the center of display. This opens the split screen app picker and shows instruction at the top of the screen.
2) Drag an app's icon to either the upper or lower portions of the screen. This results in the instructions fading away and the screen is boxed off with a splash screen icon and colour half is bbm and other half is FB in their unique colours. NB divider bar is present at this point.
3) release the app and the screen splits readjusting the apps to fit and within two seconds the Split screen app picker slides out of view.
4) you can also do the same by going to running apps view and dragging an up to the upper half or lower half of the screen.

Used my BBM 2.0 UI design for BBM in case you were wondering. will post that soon
Split screen app picker pushes apps to the right a bit when it slides into view and takes up little space.

First I watched the images of the original post, without reading the explanation. Therefore I thought of an different thing: Interactive live tile.
With a dynamic homescreen...
Hmmm, maybe I'm gonna try this...

This one here looks more like that of Windows 8.1. And the split screen app picker seems very convenient :)

I like this one. It looks more like Windows 8.1 :)
