I'm sure they emailed everyone about "Changes to Service" and again for "Opt In To Keeping Bonus Storage."

Most people were then able to keep at least 30 GB.

FWIW, Box gives good service. I've had 50GB there free since forever. They have steps to complete after sign up that earn extra space and then the real capper is a device bounty. If you sign in with a certain device you get a huge bump up. For me it was HP Touchpad, so you know how long it has been. I also saw a bounty for Nexus 4. The device bounty isn't cumulative but is a huge amount on it's own.

On sign up, you start with 10GB storage and a file limit of 250MB. Paid options galore that you probably will only need if your files exceed 250MB.

Easy there Not everyone has the time to check the website or any other websites for news pertaining to phones/windows 10 and OP did say that he didn't receive the mail, so it isn't entirely his fault

they did a few months ago, but people may have easily missed it IF they don't keep up with their emails, or signed up AFTER that batch was sent.

I still have my 30GB, so I'm fine.

I missed the articles too. I received the email about the change last week. I've been looking to switch to Mega but not sure yet. I also figured I could buy the Office 365 subscription for a year and get the 1TB of One Drive. I also use Google Drive and Dropbox but I really liked One Drive.
the office 365 subscription is really a good one, even if it is pricey.

It's a better deal than a Google Drive subscription, since it includes the Office apps in addition to the cloud storage.

I too never got an email, but it is my understanding that if you load it up to the max storage your files will be fine, you just can't upload anything else.

That is not necessarily the case. Many people are just so overwhelmed by the number of emails that it is easy to miss one or to think it's just another spam email.

The "keep your storage" mail never reached my inbox, but the "you are affected by the storage cut" mail correctly reached.Just when I was thinking what to do with my "not eligible for upgrade" Lumia 925.I installed Box but it cannot do direct auto upload from photos.

while I still have the 1TB storage because I has a office 365 subscription, but to be honest, I never used the onedrive storage at all. The reason being that syncing is way too slow.

I gladly pay for dropbox even though it is much more expensive.

During my time using it I did find Dropbox a whole lot more reliable (don't get me wrong, OneDrive was satisfactory) and could hook into more stuff, despite not meshing as well with Microsoft stuff. (although it did connect with Office and Office Mobile which was cool)

syncing on pc or phone? From my experience syncing on pc is as fast as network speed allows

Well i have 2.2 TB on Onedrive - Building my own cloud with multiple backups in different locations, never trusting a large company on thier word. They lied about the reasons to us, unlimited is just that..unlimited. The education institutions took the ****, they are the ones that need to be penalised not everyone...so much for cloud first...and mobile first? LOL

OneDrive users can keep their free 15GB of storage and camera roll bonus after all, if they opt-in by Jan. 31
OneDrive users can keep their free 15GB of storage and camera roll bonus after all, if they opt-in by Jan. 31 | Windows Central

The info was there, read and heed
I did the opt in and STILL got the notice that my 15 GB was being dropped to 5 GB.

The only reason I'm not upset is because I have an Office 365 subscription. Still, Microsoft did not honor my opt in. I get it, MS is a huge company and stuff falls through the cracks. But honestly, lately it feels like I'm dealing with someone with multiple personality disorder.
