Surface 3 Type Cover Keyboard Backlight after 1903

I can't get the keyboard lights to turn on. The Fn key and Caps key lights toggle on and off, but I can't get the others to light up. Have I forgotten how to do that? I'm using the two keys next to the Esc key with Fn off

Edited to add: I had forgotten. It's the F3 and F4 keys ... But the Fn key must be toggled off

The backlight for the keyboard is controlled by two buttons located in the top row. I'm not near my old S3, so, I can't pinpoint their exact location.

The nice thing about the S3 keyboard is that it has a pair of buttons to control the keyboard backlight as well as a pair of buttons to control the screen's brightness.
