Will Surface Laptop work with the Surface Dock?

Which Surface Dock? There is the one they released with the Surface Pro 3 which the Surface slots into. The laptop will not work with this one simply due to the fact it won't fit into it.

Then there is the Surface Dock they released with the Surface Pro 4, which is a brick that sits on the desk and cable to the Surface. This dock will work without issues. The reason Microsoft has kept with the Surface Connector in this generation is to allow these previous accessories to continue to work.

They are releasing a usb-c adapter for the surface port thingo- when that comes out, you'll be able to use a whole range of other hubs via usb 3.1 with similar function (video, network, ports etc).
