Yep...I'll actually be near a store and can't wait to try it out. Not going to pre-order though. Will wait until it is actually available and decide then.
Same. What are the incentives?? Since there are none, there's no point in preordering.
Well, there is a chance of it selling out or limited availability of the model you want. So the incentive would be to actually get one for sure.

I saved 130 as well. But I imagine you don't have to preorder to get the 10% student discount. That discount applies to almost everything at the Microsoft store. But that discount is a good reason to buy a surface from Microsoft store.I saved 130 preordering on their edu website...so there is that.

I just did a search on ms store.eduWhat is this EDU website you speak of? May you send me a link? I did something on the MS Store website (selecting the high school and role) and that took me to a "Save 10% on the new Surface Pro 3" page. But when I went to checkout, there was no discount.
Interesting. I just did my college edu. And got 10% off. I didn't use any promo code. Maybe it has to do with college vs high school?I just did a search on ms store.edu
Entered promo code GRADUATION

The promo code was for an additional $100 off but is now dead because people were ordering the SP3 for as little as $607 after tax.
The 10% off is linked to your school, you select your school and get 10% off everything.
I pre-ordered mine at 12:02 EST on May 21. I was able to get both the 10% student discount and the extra $100 off with the GRADUATION code. So, I got the i5 128GB model for $800 (normally $1000). As I understand it, they don't let you do both discounts anymore.
Do you have to link your .edu email to your Microsoft account?
apply for a community college that has an .edu email system.
