Surface pro 4 pen would it work on surface pro 3?

well, magnesium is magnetic, so assuming that the magnet is in the pen, which makes the most sense, it'll stick to a Surface and to your fridge...

What Xavier said. It will be able too.. you can try it with your pro 3 pen. It will stick to the power slot and the keyboard slot

Since they seem to be promoting this as THE way to carry the pen I suspect there is more strength to the magnets with the SP4/New pen combo. I do expect the new pen to attach to the SP3, just wouldn't be surprised if its not as strong of a hold as it would have been with the SP4.

Yes the Pro 4 pen is compatible with the Pro 3... Although the pen does not stick to the left side of the device as firm as it does on the Pro 4, as it is not made to do so on the Pro 3...

The Pro 3 Pen already sticks to the charging port on the Pro 3, it just isn't very firm. The Pro 4 pen can stick in this same way on the Pro 3. It just will not be as firm.

So essentially the Pro 4 pen works on both devices it just cannot stick as firmly on the Pro 3 as it will on the Pro 4. The Pro 3 pen already can stuck to the right side of the Pro 3, but it will also not stick very firmly
