External Display Flash

I have a 27" ViewSonic display attached directly to the Surface Pro 4 display port, even though I am using a Microsoft Dock. That's because I could not get the correct resolution using the dock port. The resolution is now fine, but every couple minutes, my ViewSonic display goes black for 5 seconds. I can continue to type and all, so the whole system is not affected, but it is annoying. Any ideas?
