OMG am I the only one who is ready to snap in regards to the email issues? I cannot believe Microsoft would release a tablet as awesome and revolutionary as the Surface and not give it pop3. Also, I think the mail app in general is very clunky.

Also, it does not participate well with some sites text boxes. I cannot efficiently use my websites webmail because of how surface interacts with it, nor Comcast's.

I deal with email all day long with work. This is so frustrating. Do you guys think this may be remedied anytime soon? I find myself carrying my ipad with me to respond to emails.

BTW I know about using Hotmail to get the pop3, but that is a horrible work around and I cannot respond from the sent to address.

as real let down to an awesome machine.

BTW, even as I type this, when I tap on a word to correct the spelling, it pops up and immediately disappears. I sure hope they get all this worked out asap.

It is Windows 8, but yeah silly. (silly is my word of the day apparently)

Anyway I think that this can be fixed easily, ***** on community.microsoft.com and we might all see an update.

In regards to the other websites having issues, are you in desktop or metro mode? Have you tried compatibility?

not only are you the only one ready to snap...you may be the only one using pop3 email still.

Welcome to the 21st century, there are much better email protocols to be using.

I have seen a few people ask about pop3 why are people using this instead of IMAP?

Agree about the mail client it ain't very good and the threaded view is hideous.

Unforutantely Comcast and websolutions do not provide imap as far as I have been told. I dont seem to have any other options. I wish I did I would be all over it.

It wouldn't be horrible, however when I set up Comcast and work pop3 through Hotmail I cannot respond to them with the email to which they are sent. It always defaults to the Hotmail account. So I can't respond to any business emails from my surface .

what I did...

Open a new account on Google Mail.

Once you do it, you will find an option to receive e-mail from other accounts including pop ones.
Input all your e-mail information and make sure it works.

Now you are ready to add a mail account in your RT tablet using the Google option and that's it.

Good luck!

You can use POP3 mail in the surface Mail app. But you have to do it on outlook.com. You can just give the mail account a separate folder. Your outgoing mail would then go through your outlook account though.

The only way that Microsoft is going to pull its head out of it's south 40 is if people start returning the hardware. I already returned the Surface RT as it wouldn't connect to my corporate network that requires Java for authentication. If Microsoft thinks it can force the entire world to lock step to whatever nonsense it demands, they are likely to be sorely mistaken. Too many other products work perfectly in the real world (Android/iOS) that there really is no reason to follow Microsoft if they are just going to take on a childish attitude. POP3 is the majority of private emails, and RT is obviously just a "home" machine as it doesn't work with corporate stuff at all. So they need to stop playing these games.

You might have solved this by now, but in case you haven't Comcast is running a beta on IMAP. If you go to the blog on their website, there is a link to a page where you can sign up to have your e-mail accounts added to IMAP. Within 24 hours my account was moved and now I can view my Comcast e-mail on my W8 phone.

I'm having the same problem of not being able to connect to my corporate network that requires Java for authentication with my new W8 phone. I went to the ATT store and tried logging on with Android and iOS phone and had no problem. Surely Microsoft or Nokia will have to come up with a solution?! Does anybody know of a work-around for this scenario?
