Hey everyone! I really want to switch to windows phone from android, but I'm in a bind and thought y'all could help. I really want the 1020 but should I wait for the successor? How far out is the next 1020 type phone? Should I just pull the trigger on the 1020 now or wait?

Well, hello there! I'd suggest you wait until the 1020 successor comes, but only if you have a ton of patience. The 1020 has already seen some price cuts, so now is a good time to buy one.

Of course, Windows Phone 8.1 is around the corner.

Try getting a 520 first and see if the platform fits you to tide you over till the 1020 vs. 1020 successor question comes to life!

Hi and welcome to WPCentral. When you ask about "the next 1020 type phone" do you mean a phone with the camera is good as that on the 1020?

Well I'm due for an upgrade now and the 1020 seems right. I really like those optics and the 1520 is honestly just too big.

Welcome to WPCentral and hopefully soon Windows Phone! If you care very much for the camera I think you should get the 1020 now since I don't think there will come out a new phone with a 41MP camera again soon

Is the 1820 just going to be a new flagship with a "normal sized" lytro camera? I was kind of hoping that the successor would be named at MWC and the 1820 was looking good, but now it seems to be just the next flagship.

The 1820 is 100% irrelevant, since it's still just an aggregation of rumours. I don't recommend making decisions based on unannounced devices that may or may not be "coming out soon."

Like someone already stated, try the 520, can easily get it for under $100. Try out the OS, see what you think, or ir you already like it, go ahead with the 1020, I'm going to guess the successor of it will probably be later this year (I'm guessing a successor of the 920 is more-so around the corner, they like to bring a refresh of the 900-series when a refresh of the OS comes out). Just my 2 cents, and welcome to WPCentral! :D

Where can I get a 520 for under $100? I know that the AT&T version is cheap (I already have one), but I assume you mean unlocked here? In the US at least the unlocked 520s are around $140. I'd like to try an unlocked version.

You can get a 920 out of contract for around 200-300 or cheaper on the Internet (eBay, overstock.. Etc) I would go this route as the 1020 and 920 are very similar with the same microprocessor. The 1020 has am extra gig just for the camera. The 920 takes great pics as well and has wireless charging built-in.

I just stopped by the AT&T store and played with a 1020. I like the look and feel of the OS and the screen looks nice as well. I'm sold. I'm going to order the white one along with the camera grip online.
