How to clear someone's birthday notification which got stuck on wallpaper

Nokia 1020. Windows 8.1
XYZ's birthday on December 12. By browsing calendar application it is no different to anyone's else. However , it is not cleared from wallpaper. It reads "Today is XYZ's birthday . All Day " By wallpaper I mean the very initial picture which we slide up to see tiles.

What you could try to update the lockscreen, hence remove the old entry, is to go to settings -> lockscreen -> choose app for detailed whatsoever (sorry, I don't know the exact wording) and pick any app but calendar. Repeat that procedure and pick calendar again.

Try a soft reset. Hold down the volume down and power button until the phone resets. This solves a lot of problems for me

That's what happens when you forget to buy a birthday present.

I had the exact same problem. Doing a soft reset just moved the notification on to the next person. I went to Settings >Lock Screen> then under notifications I chose none. Thanks!
