I was in MS store today to play with the new 2520 from Verizon. First impression - it is very cool. Nokia knows how to make hardware. My main reason I want 2050 vs. Surface2 is that I recently found a big limitation of Bing Maps - there is no such thing as off-line Bing Maps. As soon as you are out of reception, you don't have maps. Period. (In the past this issue was solved with an app like Map Point, but it does not run on RT). Here Maps on my 1020 are great but small. So I was looking forward to this new tablet from Nokia. However, while playing in the store, there were two new units on display, close to the entrance door (no more than 10 feet) - 1520 and 2520. The first one, as well as my own 1020, instantly locked the GPS signal, however 2520 struggled all the time I was there, and never was able to locate its position. Of course, MS people in the store had no clue what I was talking about. I checked all the settings, and the OS allowed to locate position, including this specific app.

Can anyone, who had any experience with this tablet say anything about it's GPS sensitivity?

why do you think it has a gps sensor, i think it is just using the wifi or cell towers to triangulate, i have not seen anything from nokia about it having a gps sensor.

I was curious why didn't it lock the GPS? I noticed with time GPS sensors became better and better. On my old 808 it could easily take 10 sec to lock GPS even when outside with clear sky. 1020, on the other hand, gets it immediately even inside the building! I hope as more and more people play with 2520 we should hear some feedback in this respect. My main concern is if it is sensitive enough to find satellites while driving in the car.

I got a chance to try out a Lumia 2520 at my local Microsoft Store. One of the things I did was open Here Maps. It quickly found my position inside the mall. GPS worked fine.

I find that with my 920 the GPS is extremely slow to lock on if there is no data or WiFi connection.

This is a good news. Was it AT&T or Verizon?

The 2520 I tried at the MS store was a red Verizon variant.

I have decided that this must be a 920 issue. I've had three different 920s (first one had a loose speaker, second one was great for 8 months then lost a column of red pixels) and all of them have very poor GPS reception. My son has had two different 920s and both have the same GPS issues. I picked up a 520 as a backup phone and its GPS locks on within 2 seconds or less, even inside my house.

With my 2520 it is a little slower at locking on but it does locate itself ok. Definitely much better than the 920 and the one time I used it in the car it was really fast at locating from power up. It did have a hiccup this morning and kept putting me over 200 miles north of me. I turned on the cellular radio and that fixed the location issue immediately.
