Hello guys, I am about to buy - probably tomorrow the lumia 520
And I have a few questions:
1. How can I know that a certain app is compatible with my phone ? (Since I don't have the phone ? - there are some critical apps to me)
Here is the full list of critical apps to me (can you guys tell me if their are ok):
  1. ynet | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)
  2. http://www.windowsphone.com/he-il/store/app/מבזקים/9b89cf3e-6268-e011-81d2-78e7d1fa76f8
  3. Texas HoldEm Poker | חנות אפליקציות+משחקים של Windows Phone (ישראל)
  4. Sofia Stage Player | חנות אפליקציות+משחקים של Windows Phone (ישראל)
  5. 'Waze'
  6. 'Whatsapp'
2. About the 'Waze', if I have a charger on board can it keep my battery on 100% ? while using it when driving ?
3. Is there a high/low chance Nokia will include on the next update a 'file manager' ?
4. What happens if I launch a link that leads to a .pdf file ? is it opened ?
5. Music and Movies from a PC can be transferred to a SD card or just to phone memory ?
6. Once Music and Movies copied to the phone from where can they be accessed ?
7. File can be transferred from a MAC ?

Thanks for everyone who helps!
Excited already!

All those apps and games will work.

2.Yes you can charge and use waze at the same time, but be warned the 520 doesn't have a compass so some features in navigation apps may not work. Depending on the function.
3. A file manager (if and when it comes) will more likely debut when wp8.1 comes out. Ms is holding a conference sometime early 2014 and we all will know.
4.the PDF file should download and open in a PDF app, if you have one installed.
5.you can transfer them to internal and external.
6. Music will be in music hub, and movies in the videos hub.
7. Yes, you can transfer from a Mac, just make sure you have the Windows Phone desktop client installed on your mac.

Welcome to windows phone. The Lumia 520 is a great intro to wphone. One limitation on running apps is the 512mb RAM. If an app requires more, it will indicate that in the store and you will not be able to install it. The good news is that most apps will run on the 520. Games are a different issue and others can speak to that. Get adobe reader and PDF files will open automatically.
Movies and music can be transferred from PC to phone.
Have fun exploring the possibilities with the phone. Happy New Year.🎆🎆🎆

2. Its possible to navigate with no compass right ?
3. Again I don't see where i can see the Ram needed on the store ?
4. Also How is the browsing experience ? (tabs fluidity)
5. Movies that are on SD will be shown in the hub right ?

1) idk what that is
2) yes
3) something like 95% of all apps work on 512 Mb
4) browsing works well for me, occasionally a site will crash it. Wmpoweruser always does this
5) idk

3) 1 Gb Ram requirement is mostly for Games, i haven't yet came across an application that requires 1 Gb ram, 90% of the games will run on 512MB ram. Subway Surfer/TempleRun2 will need 1 Gb ram, 512 MB support for them coming soon, if you can't wait go for Lumia 525 its a duplicate of L520 with 1GB Ram

4) i don't browse much on the phone, but what ever i have done its great experience imo

5) yes

1. Depends on what localisation you're looking for.
2. Navigation is possible without a compass. I have a Lumia 520 and I navigate fine.
3. If your device does not meet the requirements for an app, it will not show up on your store (unless you use the link).
4. Browsing is fluid. There is a limit on the number of tabs you can have open (6).
5. Videos will show up in the Music+Videos hub. Just make sure the files are in a compatible format.

Assuming you buy the phone, welcome to Windows Phone 8.

Batterylife is however not to great when playing mp4 .

As for the file browser, I don't think ms will open this opportunity.
