Using Location Services on the Lumia 520

Hello,

How do I use the GPS function on the Lumia 520?

ie. I would like to download any relevant maps using my home wifi and then on the road (ie in a car, or on foot) would I need to have an internet connection (phone plan) or does the phone just use GPS to locate?

1) Download HERE
2) Download offline maps for whatever country you want to you them in
3) The phone's GPS does all the work. You obviously need yo have Location on for this to work.

You need to download an app that offers offline maps like HERE Maps and use a GPS system like HERE Drive. Both free on Lumias.

With the L520 you can only have maps for your country with HERE. To get anything else you need to pay.

To download maps go into HERE Maps, tap the ... then tap Download maps. Select the map for your country and download it.

Then use HERE Drive as a GPS. Ensure you have Location on. For quick connection you can use data but it's not necessary, just realise it will take some time to connect.
