My 920 melted last night :-(

I charged my phone last night before going to bed. A few hours later I woke up and the whole room smelt like burning wires, I thought someone was toasting a bread or something downstairs at the kitchen. So I ignored it, and then rolled on to my side and I screamed when I felt something burned my hand. It was my phone. The charging port burned and melted.

I was scared because I have no money for a new phone, and my phone's already months out of warranty.

I opened up my phone a long time ago to change the shell though. I don't think they will agree to give me a new one.

Does it still power on? Can you have the option of using a qi wireless charger. Have you tried that?

it looks like an official charger to me! it seems more rounded as it's melted.

Idk if it's an official charger. My 900, 920 and 1530 all came with chargers that are black.

My black 920 in the UK came with a Nokia white charger

My family's four L920 chargers are all white. And all of the USB charger cables that connect the charger to the phone are black. I've never seen a white Nokia cable, myself.

I suppose anything is possible but I agree with several others in that it is probably an after-market USB cable.

I am finding out that you can only use Nokia charger and cord. Having blackberry, android all the chargers do the same. But my 1520 will only work with the charger and USB cord that came with it.

That's awful. Those pictures are just heartbreaking. Is that charger an official one, though? My 920 also came with a white charger (it's a Rogers 920 I have), but it's only been used once and not by me but by my mom, who used it once to charge her 620 when she was with my grandmother at the hospital. I hope you are able to get your phone replaced and that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to do so.

I've got a white one and it came with the original packaging. So this is a weird case, unrelated to the question whether or not this charger was official.

Do you guys use micro usb cables from previous phones? I do all the time. I use the same charger from my HTC Trophy to charge my Nokia Lumia Icon.
