Live tile for email repeatedly stops working

My live email tile repeatedly stops updating. I can reset it with a soft re-set. It may be related to using a new app - but not all new apps.

I read a thread from a while back about various fixes, and a soft re-set does work - for a while. But that gets old, when I need to glance down any time to see if I have an email. BTW, the Amber update was done.

On the lock screen or a start screen?

On the lock screen or a start screen?

On the start screen - the screen with the tiles. I didn't know the lock screen could show email updates.

ETA: Sorry, if the tile doesn't show email messages, the lock screen doesn't either.
