Limiting data

Is anyone using a Windows Phone 8 without a data plan? I am off to Europe next week, last time I was abroad my HTC 8S rattled through 5Mb of data while I was downloading 6 or 7 small e-mails, so clearly I had data leaking everywhere. Would appreciate some tips on turning of unnecessary data, I want email and nothing else is that even possible?

That isn't possible I'm afraid. However there is a data roaming option to turn off data when roaming.

Uninstall apps and eliminate background,processes.. But besides that I do not think you can do,much.. Hope you enjoy your trip.. Cheers

Unlock and buy a local sim. It will be much much cheaper than your roaming charge.
