What does WP devices need to go head to head with Androids..and I am not talking about apps and games..I m sure they will catch up someday..but from a hardware and software feature point of view..
So what do you think guys that can give WP the necessary push in the market and more options to customers .?

Let me get it started..

1. Options for a bigger screen - at least one 5 inch 1080p display
2. Bluetooth file transfer in all devices ( not restricted to Nokia only )
3. Bigger batteries
4. Better Cameras with higher Megapixel count ( Nokia EOS on the way )
5. IR Remote...Trust me people its pretty handy to have ( Already on Samsung Galaxy s4 , HTC One , LG Optimus G Pro , Sony Xperia ZL,etc and more to come )

Please suggest more improvements and lets hope that the manufacturers see this and come up with better phones..HTC and Samsung seem to have deserted WP and hence our hopes lie with Nokia and hope they are listening to us.

That wouldn't really help, main reason WP is behind is because of apps. The phones are good the way they are, microsoft has solid software and very lucky to have Nokia as a distributor, otherwise the market share would be non-existant.

1 - useless. Shovels in other department. Even current 4.5 (in lumia 920) is too big! If Nokia cannot make very very think orders round screen, no needs to make such monsters. 4.3'' on HTC 8X much better and really useful. If you need big screen, you can take tablet. This is phone at first. Of course IMHO
2 - ??? You can transfer anything to everything.
3 - Good point, but if this will increase size and weight? No thinks :)
4 - Current 920/5/8 have excellent camera. I see no cameras on any top smartphones come closer to it. When people will understand that this is not a megapuperpixels makes good photos! We don't need 13Mpx or 16Mpx on such awfully small sensor!
5 - I doubt on that. I had IR on many hones, never used it. HTC and Samsung will remove it in next phones,m believe me. They just need to add every bit of technology to gain attraction from users. Just give me one example when do you need IR? Forget about TV controllers. Its faster to take controoler from table than run app, select TV, click on button. Better to buy one universal IR controller
_____________
Here is my list:

1 - Add support for bigger resolution, not bigger screens. But we can live with current "HD Ready"
2 - Faster CPUs, more cores
3 - More RAM - better multitasking.
4 - Support for TV Out. Even iPhone has it :)
5 - Not a hardware related, but - give us VPN support! How are your phones will work in enterprise without it !?

Windows Phone doesn't need Android style specs. What it needs is apps and advertising, that's what will push Windows Phone.

I have to agree. It's all about the apps and marketing. Big things are coming to Windows Phone 8 hardware wise this year. Once the software updates happen you will see higher res screens, bigger screens, more cores, etc. But none of that is going to save Windows Phone if they don't get the apps and ramp up the marketing especially at point of sale.

The hardware is eventually going to be a commodity. I remeber last year I got a Lumia 900 which had LTE and Apple was still selling iphone 4s for HUNDREDS of dollars more. And I'm sure they sold a lot more Iphone 4ses than Nokia sold Lumia 900s. That makes no sense. The Lumia 900 had a bigger better screen and a much faster connection to the internet and it still couldn't be sold for hundreds of dollars less than an old iphone. Something is wrong in the marketing department.

I would far prefer OS feature improvements.

It's not specs that are holding WP back.

- Big screens and good battery life is a market demand today ...as people do so many things on phone..Look at the sheer number of large screen phones coming out and some of them are top selling ones..I love my HTC Titan's 4.7 inch and would would want something bigger than that as the next phone and with better pixel density .. Trust me those 1080p screens look awesome...just go and fiddle around around with a few devices..

- As for the camera.. 920 would probably blow the GS4 away in low light but for other shots you would be amazed at the amount of detail you get on the GS4...those 13mp come to good use.. EOS would be great...

- Yes OS improvement is necessary and please suggest the changes required ..

- For the IR Blaster ..I'm not talking about the old phones .. I have used them before and they were pretty much hit and miss.. mostly useless tho.. but you should try the ones on the GS4 and HTC One..they are really good...you should go and try any of those..The reviews got me curious and then I actually ended up trying couple of those devices which some of my Android-head friends have,,, and they were pretty good..

One more thing nice would be the Notification Panel of some sort and a unified search which comes to mind...

Keep adding folks..

Okay we are getting an extra row of tiles and Full HD screens in the near future.. yayyy..somethin to cheer about.. :-)

When talking hardware I think there's not much to really go on about. Yes you can get more processors and higher resolution but really unless they make better batteries your device won't last that long. Also I don't have any issues with the display on my 920. I'm starting to wonder why excessive high resolution is necessary. Yes it makes things a bit clearer and you can fit 'more' on a screen but most people won't care.

The only things I would like to see addded is:

  • SD card slot as standard (I don't personally need it but I know it would make a lot of people happy)
    1G RAM as standard
    Video output (mini HDMI)
    USB on the go
Faster processors (whether that's better dual or quad)

As for any of this being a reason for a person not to take up Windows Phone, I doubt it. It's all about apps as many have said (including myself) and it will continue to be about that. Until people feel they can get the same app experience as what they already have you won't get the take up numbers. Simple.

1) options for bigger screen This is coming with the GDR2 update in June or July and with the 925 when its released. This will enable "phablet" format which Nokia I believe has planned for a device.

2) Bluetooth 4.0 support is coming with either Amber or Blue.

3) The phablet formats should come with better batteries as well as higher screen resolutions etc.

4) as you state is coming and is seemingly coming fairly soon.

5) Whatever they had that ability in the past in Windows Mobile devices and it was underpowered and blew through battery life IMHO its just a toy. They already have IR devices that come with your TV or from your cable and/or satellite provider so for me at least that's totally unnecessary.

I suspect we'll see a jump in specs when the next generation of phones for WP comes out. Right now the phones coming out (925, 928, etc) are just to keep us busy until the manufacturers let loose a new wave of phones.
