Been trying since 6 in the morning and its 11pm now. Still unable to get it done. thought it was a space issue. freed up 1.8GB on the phone. Still nothing now trying for the 7th time. L720 - India

I did a hard reset install everything from the start and it worked.

The sad emoticon means that it failed. Just ran into the same problem a few hours ago. With that the phone gets stuck in an endless cycle of failed reboots.
I shouldn't have followed that his solution. I bought my phone from Expansys japan and the guy at the Nokia Hong Kong support told be they can't provide support for my phone because the IMEI shows it was bought from Nokia Kenya. No wonder Nokia went down. Talk about a stupid support system.

Did you authenticated your phone with the key provided on the email? My 8.1 install have 2.5gb, you have enough space?

use the NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER!

I tried to hard reset the phone and then got the :-( symbol too. But NSU saved the day. For L720 the file OS file is 1.31GB so it took some time

Well I found NSU and used it. Doing the reinstall now. On the 8.1 had 4gb of space open let's see if everything will be ok.
Just wondering how space the update will need?
