'Call recording' missing in WP8 as well as WP8.1. What is the reason behind this? I feel this is a demerit of WP. :( Will it be added in future?

It hasn't been present since WP7 was first introduced. I suspect that it will not be back, and I suspect that variations in local laws with regard to recording telephone conversations is probably one of the reasons.

Are you talking about recording of live calls or voicemail?

Windows Mobile and Windows Phone have never had call recording capabilities as it's a massive violation of privacy. Voicemail on the other hand was there in Windows Mobile and is still there in Windows Phone.

A new app appeared on the store that will allow you to record your calls.

Callcorder | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)
I was suspicious, because there's no API to record the call... But if you look in the app description, they're not recording on the phone - they're recording at their own site. HUGE red flags as far as privacy invasion goes.
***How to record outgoing calls?***

• Open app and tape the callcorder button.
• The app will dial our recording line and tap “add call” button once enabled.
• Call the person you want from address book or dial from keypad.
• Finally, tap “merge call” & recording will begin.

Note:- The 3 way will use your airtime minutes.

They're using there server to record calls.. Seems like NSA has its hand in this APP xD ! :D
