Changing a default setting in Control Panel

Can some one please tell me how to fix this?

When I open Control Panel, the default view is "category". I want to set it to "large icons". Do you know how to make that the default view?

In my win 8.1
If i open control panel I see somewhere on the right top "show: Category"
This had a dropdown window. I I open it I can change to large icons.

Yes. And that is what I do. I prefer the large icons setting but I am not sure if I can set it so that large icons comes up by default.

For me it worked. I did a few restarts and power downs and I kept the change.

Hmm. Not sure then. You just left it on large icons and restarted?

Yep. But I use a local account.

. But if you use your mc account your settings can be synced. So if the sync is not done you may get your "old cloud" settings back. Or something like that.
