I'm not sure if this is an 8.1 issue or strictly an issue with my Lumia 830, but when I power cycle my phone the bluetooth volume is reset to about 50%. I've never had any other device or mobile OS do this.

The first couple of times it happened I thought the bluetooth connection was broken because I couldn't hear playback.

Anyone else experience this?

It's a safety feature that I think is across all Windows Phones. Just a way to make sure you don't blast your ears out when you plug in/connect your headphones.

Ah, that makes sense. At least I know it's WAI and not a bug. I'd prefer it retain the volume, but it's only a minor nuisance given how infrequently I need to reboot the WP.

Thank you!

had an old stereo system with this "feature" the volume knob was broken, every time it rebooted for some reason(power outage, my mom cleaning etc) I had to manually raise the volume and it was a nightmare, lets hope your volume keys don't die someday :P
