Sim card missing

Hi guys i have a Malaysia Ativ S which i bought for my brother who lives in a diffferent time zone. When i bought it was on GDR1 and despite malaysia having GDR2 already it wouldn't update. I sent to SC and they said this is the latest firmware although i have another ativ s running GDR2. So i changed the CSC to ATO and got GDR3 which was running fine till i sent the phone to my bro in different time zone in Asia. He claims whichever sim he use phone doesn't detect it. He already tired restarting and also reset the phone but still d same.

Is this related to the manual GDR3 update i did by changing CSC that it doesn't recognize other zone sims ? I don't understand y it's working here and not working there. BTW no phone in malaysia is locked to carrier. Any help will b appreciated. Thanx

What carrier does your brother have? Would he be able to get a new SIM from his carrier?

Phone is not locked to any carrier. He tried multiple sims, all can't be detected by the phone.

Are they old SIMs that are not compatible with this device?

He's using micro sim in his S4, took out and put in ativ S.....same micro sim works on his S4 and note 3 but this phone not detecting any sim. Will changing the CSC help ? or flashing GDR2 help ?

Try changing the "CSC" back to the original zone or to the country where the phone is located:-
