1280x720 vs 1280x768

not sure if someone already answered the question, but if i remember correctly

=> the reason for the two resolution was to
1. reduce stress as manufacturing plants produce both panel types so it won't strain 720 panel production line
2. i think this goes hand-in-hand with the previous reason is to reduce cost of manufacturing, i don't know how to don't ask me
3. "he" said flexibility... im not sure what it's pointing towards, but my guess was for OEMs to pick and choose what they desire for design when i heard it

I think Microsoft threw that in when RIM came out with the Dev Alpha phone that had a 1280x768 4.2inch screen. It's all trying to match/beat the competition and 1280x768 is higher than even the most high end Android phones right now. I think they should've went with 768 and forgot 720 because it works better scaling up from 480x800 which is 16:10 also.
