So 2 weeks ago I received on test Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung's flagship device for year 2014. It was my first Android phone that I used more than 10 minutes or so, I'm on Nokia since 2007 ( not my first Android device because I have cheap tablet).
2 weeks ago:
So here we go, my first Android phone, let's see what Android can do and will I hate my Nokia Lumia 820 after test period is over and I will have to return Galaxy S5.
2 weeks test period: so I got phone in my hands and loaded some apps which I thought I will use frequently, most of them were same as I have on WP but I also installed 3 games which are not on WP. I had apps so I started using this as my daily driver, I loved battery of this phone, 1 day on single charge, with same use I was from 100 to 10% on my Nokia in 5 HOURS !!! Loved battery, also loved screen. Been on AMOLED for more than 3 years now and I love colors and how crystal clear screen was. Camera was also great BUT only at day, at night I wasn't very happy with produced shoots, to grainy in general. Because of all this hype around camera I expected more than just quick image capture( it really is quick :O, well done here Samsung) and great good light performance.
Hardware is good, games run smoothly satisfied in general. So how about Android in general ? How does Android run on it? HW is really powerful so things should be great, right ? WELL, answer is NOO. Lag is something common with this phone, especially is noticeable in camera app, when you want to open previous picture and it takes quite some time to open. And in two weeks I had more app crashes than with my Lumia 820 in more than a year. Here I expected so much more from this phone.

NOW: SO , so I feel uncomfortable using my Lumia ? NO. I still like it. Galaxy S5 didn't persuade me to go for Android, I expected better performance and thought Camera would be better. The thing I miss the most is battery. I wouldn't buy Samsung Android phone at all, BUT I'm not giving up Android just yet, need to try out at least Nexus and LG G3.
Samsung has a long way to go with it's version of Android. Those were my 5 cents, fell free to share your experience with Galaxy S5, good or bad.

Thanks for this. I've been waffling between staying with WP and going to the S5 Active. My motivation is for a rugged handset that doesn't look like it will kill you if someone threw it at you.
Reading this though, I am not sure the benefits outweigh the negatives.

I don't know, it's not a bad phone, maybe I just expected too much from it because of hype around it. It's really shame that there is no rugged WP, in Android camp you have all kinds of phones, you can actually get things you want in your phone, with WP is take it or leave it.
