1520.3 to a 830

You are one of many in this forum (including me!) that came to the 830 from the 1520. As great as the 1520 is, I don't think anyone has regretted the switch. I know I haven't.

I am one of those transfers as well. Happy like no other with my 830. Welcome.

I just can't see myself downgrading from 6" to 5". It's such a tiny little postage stamp of a phone.

But you are upgrading one-handability, pocketabilty, and overall tangible manageability. And at 5", that's compromise without much sacrifice. Not to mention the added perks of exchangeable backs and removable battery.

I was joking some but I really do like the 6" size. I've always been a two hander and if my pants can't handle it I won't wear them :) My 1520 comes first, pants 2nd.

Sadly, I think the next big phone offering from MS will be 5.7". Seems to be what Samsung and apple have settled for.

I thought the 5in screen would suck after using a 6in but not so much. The 6in screen is sweet but the pants do become an issue. Skinny jeans are out.

Sorry to go off topic, but: The mic on my 1520 is getting buggy as well! Can you let me know how your repairs go, and if it cost more/less than the estimate on Palco? I'm also noticing that the back and windows buttons aren't lighting up any more. Seems like a lot is going wrong at the bottom of my phone.

Mine went bad but it was still under warranty. I had one hell of a time convincing the AT&T service desk it wasn't supposed to sound that bad.

Signs are Cortana butchering speech input and callers that say they can't hear you.

I went back to Windows phone after about a year. I missed the UI, the live tiles, the simplicity and animations. I grabbed an 830 a few days ago. And right away the phone feels really nice to hold and use. The screen is nice to touch and glide around on. It also looks really great aside from it being 720 only. Not a huge deal for me though. My biggest issue is ms removing features again. I mean the whole reason I left wp is the lack if apps and just basic features. And now it seems like they're removing stuff fans like using? I hate 3 rows of tiles. It makes the smaller screen look very cluttered with no organization. Simplicity is why I switched to WP in the first place. Put the option back in. I saw they're getting rid of groups. Me and my wife and son used this feature. It was pretty useful when you don't want to resort to using Facebook's dictatorship of a service. What happened to the me tile? The people hub looks like it's been ignored for 5 years. There's nothing new on it and now when you tap a link or picture or want to comment it opens up the battery sucking Facebook app. I just don't understand why their ruining everything that made the system really great. All it needed was more features and more support from app developers. The phone is great but seriously it feels like they're going backwards with their head up their *** with what they're doing with their mobile platform.

Don't mean to be annoying but my OCD has gotten the best of me. iPhone 6+ is 5.5-inch screen (although with those horrid top and bottom bezels and stupidly wide screen it might as well be a 6-inch screen...then LG goes and puts a 5.5-inch screen in a 5.2-inch body).

I got the return shipping confirmation and tracking number today. Should have it by Friday or Saturday. The tracking info isn't updated yet. I paid whatever Palco charged via Paypal. I don't know the exact amount off my head but it is definitely less than a new 830.

If it comes back working like new, I'll be torn as to which device will have main phone and backup phone status.

I'm getting my 1520 fixed too. I'm going to roll with the 830. But just the fact I'm getting the 1520 fixed tells you how how I feel about it. It's like my buddy.

In my experience gaming is the big battery drain along with weak signal. With heavy gaming and everything running (bt, wifi, etc...) 50% in 3 1/2 hrs. My 1520.3 didn't do much better and with my daily use with out my kid playing games would go 2 days pretty easy.
I had the exact same thoughts as you do that's why I posted. I was wrong. First time ever.😁 Also, was there a problem with the 930 or just not a proper fit?

I dont like the AMOLED screens too much, they consume so much more battery with white and the things I use most are white; FB chat, websites, email and so many more. Also the device got pretty hot browsing and whatnot.

Not to mention MS seems to be abandoning consistent use of the Dark Theme. Plus AMOLED screens are oversaturated and unnatural looking.

I agree. The amoled seemed softer if that makes sense. One of the draw backs I read about the 830 was a ips screen. I actually think its sharper. That being said I thought the 1520 looked pretty good.

Excactly on everything.

The IPS colors are way better. Sure, AMOLED might seem to be very vibrant and great in color, but really just unnatural. I also hate it that when using a black theme some parts are white.

The wife has a Galaxy Tab S 10.5. That thing scorches my eyeballs. I don't know how she looks at it for hours. *shrug*

I did the same. Really happy with the 830. I use my 1520 as my test Win10 device now. I can still see myself upgrading to the new flagship 5.2" when it comes out.
