1520 battery life compared to the 920

If the black update really makes that much of a difference, it's just another great example how you can't compare hardware specs (even though now you *can*), because the OSs are so fundamentally different and use hardware very differently.

I think it has to do more for the GDR3 update. I updated my HTC 8X and the battery sure improved lot

Agreed. My 920 with the GDR3 update lasted a very long unless I was browsing the web or playing games. GDR3 definitely refined power consumption.

I got my 1520 last night around 7 pm. I first opened the box and the phone was at 72%. I did two hard resets and then started restoring everything and setting up all my apps. At midnight, I was down to 13%. Today will be my first full day with it so as per this thread, I'm being optimistic.

I've noticed it's cooler too. Mine did heat up a bit when using waze but it wasn't cooking like my older phone. Being thinner and having more surface area should help with dissipation.
omg you can fry an egg on my 920 while using Waze, at least for a few minutes before the battery dies.

Waze is the biggest battery hog I use. But since I always use it in the car, I make sure my phone is plugged in while it's running. Hands down best nav/traffic app out there (so happy to have it for WP8 now finally), but beware if you forget to turn it off, forget using your phone much the rest of the day.

I didn't bother plugging my 1520 in last night because I was curious on how much charge the battery would lose over night. Now, I have all the same apps running in the background as the 920, Bluetooth left on all the time, and the same mail retrieval settings. Now typically the 920 would easily lose 60-70% of it's charge just sitting over night. The 1520 lost 2% Man, I really think this quad core sips the juice.

I am also a 920 owner and, I am thinking of buying a Lumia 1520. Although I will keep my 920. Can you share your overall experience while moving from 920 to 1520? I know for some people size is an advantage and issue. The biggest issue that I find with my Lumia 920's size is, while driving, when my 920 is in the pocket, I have to first remove the seat belts and still its difficult to take the handset out of the coin pocket, something that will become horrible with 1520. Apart from that how do you feel the call quality, music quality, speakers, games, web browsing?

So yesterday was my first full day with my 1520. Took it off the charger at 8:00 am and by midnight, the phone was at 30%. This includes about 30 minutes worth of playing Halo:SA! The 1520 and its battery definitely rock! With the same usage, I would have had to throw my 920 on the charger for at least 30 minutes.
