3rd Party Music Players

Is it possible to have 3rd party music players like Poweramp, Music X Match, etc for WP ??

I read that Microsoft doesn't allow complete access to certain things and that prevents anyone from making a complete music app. I used Poweramp for android and it is fantastic. I just hope Microsoft stands by what they say and improve the music app so we don't need anything else.
