640 or 730? Which one is better

Don't forget about how much battery does amoled saves....

On the flip side, when displaying more white, like in webpages, it might/could potentially use more power than an LCD. although I don't have hard evidence.

Few hours ago I got 640 for my dad. Before setting it up for dad I played with for a while and I find 730 camera way better than 640. However, I've tested it only indoors. Didn't want to go outside in 40 degrees.

Screen in 640 is not full clearblack like 730 and other higher range devices. It uses only one layer of polarizers.
Also, capturing pics is faster in 640 but focusing is much faster and accurate in 730.

Only thing 730 lacks is glance screen. So I'd go for 730.

The 640 will be about $100 or more less than the 730, no? Seems to me the 640 will be a better deal all around. Although I HATE the glossy back covers, though I guess the black colored back cover is matte finish. I can't figure out why they all aren't matte. Does anyone in the world like the cheap glossy backs on any phones?

PS. No, I don't want a case.

Yeah I'm in the same situation. The 640 comes to my country on April the 23rd and it will cost $299 (NZD/New Zealand Dollars) but I can get the Lumia 735 or $298 (New Zealand Dollars) on sale now! Which do I choose? (am I supposed to make a separate post for this or is it okay here?)

^^ Why are you still confused? the 730 has Carl Zeiss lens whereas 640 is just an ordinary cam, no Zeiss no pureview.. So the quality of pics will be better with the 730. Higher 8MP count with the 640 does not mean much.

Hello. You see the Microsoft provides data offer with every phone.i own a Lumia 730 and I got a 1gb of data usage for 2 months for free on the operator called Vodafone. Now on the website there is this operator aircel providing 1gb of data for 3 month. Can I still avail it.

730 is better in all aspects except not having glance screen. Is Glance Screen a Big deal?

LUMIA 730 has replaceable battery too. 730 design looks stand out among LUMIA models.730 looks premium.

I own 640 and my friend own 730. 730s camera is more superior than 640. In other departments, 640 is better. The display in 640 looks sharper than 730.

It will go how you take it. Lumia 730 is a bit outdated (believe me its already 6 months old). No doubt it comes with excellent or shall we call luxurious specs ( a 1.2 GHz Quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset packed with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage, the most loving thing about Lumia 6.7 MP Camera ft. Carl Zeiss tech.). Hold on!! Don't be so excited. Lumia 640 has much more to offer. Rumoured with operating specs same as that of Lumia 730, along with comparatively larger (5") display, it features a 8.7MP camera but the selfie camera is 0.9MP (of course its horrible), full connectivity suite is also going to be present in the Lumia 640, headed by LTE and NFC. Wireless charging support via a dedicated back cover is also rumored. NOTE THAT THESE ARE RUMOURS. The price range of Lumia 640 is going to be the same as that of Lumia 730. And the most important thing, it comes preinstalled with WINDOWS 10.

I recommend 730 as I've been using it for past 1 year with no issues till date. It's the perfect phone.
You like gaming, go ahead the s4 chipset will give you flawless performance.
You like taking pics and videos, have it as much you want with a zeiss lens. Both front and back are brilliant. And the best part is that you can take 1080p videos with both cams.
With superb battery back up due to amoled display, light sensors and an efficient processor architecture its a solid phone.
And never forget Nokia's exceptional build quality and customer service.
