8.1 update 1 DP - Battery Drain Still an Issue?

Slightly off-topic, but I'm curious, how do I know if I have 8.1.1 on my Icon or not? I just installed the developer preview, but it doesn't seem like I can actually make Live Folders or anything.

Got to settings > about and click "more info" With the latest update you should be running 8.10.14192.280. To create a live folder, all you do is drag a tile and drop it on to another tile.

After the last couple of updates, I've noticed my battery life settle down a bit. I'm not sure if it is actually improved because I really don't have any empirical data to go by.

The best I can say is that Wednesday last, my daughter and I went to Waikiki and The Honolulu Zoo. I was using my phone to take pictures and video, as well as a WiFi hotspot to upload pics from my EyeFi enabled camera to OneDrive, and posting to Facebook and sending via MMS. I went from approximately 95% down to 20% in just over four hours of pretty heavy usage. I didn't have a noticeable heat build up either. That was before the latest update though.

95% to 20% in 4 hours even with heavy use is not so good. i've come to the conclusion that this phone just eats battery if you use it. its a power hungry monster unless you just let it stay sleeping, warm and cozy under the covers. :asleep:

Facebook and messaging just kills the battery. If you really want to kill it fast, go to http://disqus.com that easily gets my phone to 40%/hour use. I wonder if it's javascript connections that kill it. Watching video, music, taking pictures seem to be OK though (in my experience).

my battery took a series hit with the latest "urgent update" to the DP. now draining about 10% per hour even with minor use. ick.

I am new to DP8.1 (2 weeks) and have had 8.0 since July. I don't see either of the battery drain issue or the power button issue. I have, however, (based on forum feedback) kept a close eye on background apps and made sure there were no unnecessary apps running in the background. I don't regret moving one bit and curse myself for not moving to DP8.1 sooner.
