What state are you in? I'm in Texas. I had a $149 down payment and sales tax on $499.99 at $41.25 (8.25%) for a total of $191.24 out the door. Same payments as you. So, I'm curious as to how I spent $58 more dollars than you after taxes.

fifthGear's profile says Rhode Island... they have a 7% sales tax rate. If that's true... $33 is still low for tax. They're supposed to tax based on the full price of the phone, but 7% of $549 is $38.50.

Just looked it up, and they have no sales tax on clothing. That's awesome. Better than the Texas "Tax-Free Weekend" we get once a year, eh?

Neither does Rhode Island They also have an exemption for prescription drugs.

Man, now I want to go look up ALL the states. Sales taxes in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia <--You notice in that link they mention talk of ANOTHER tax-free weekend in Texas in December for the holiday season? Holy wow... and we thought it was a mad house for that weekend in August! HA! That would be pretty awesome though, if true.

Yeah. Which still doesn't explain how he paid $133 and I paid $190. Hey, fifth... look at your paperwork and can you tell us how you were billed?
