I recently bought an ATT 830 and am very pleased with it. Especially the battery life! I haven't seen a post just on the battery life of the 830 so I thought I would start one.

After a week or so of use, so the Battery Saver app has a chance to measure my usage, I am generally getting an indication of 24 to 26 hours available after a full charge. Coming from an 820 this is outstanding!

As for my own experiences with battery drain:
I went out in the evening with a full charge, used it moderately, and forgot to charge it when I got home that eve. Next morning it was at 70% charge.
One day I used it a lot without charging including GPS navigating for about an hour and a half and it went down to 45% during the day. This is the lowest level I have gotten the battery to.

How is your 830 battery life?

I have had the Lumia 830 on ATT since the day it was released Nov. 6. I also upgraded from the Lumia 820.

I agree that the battery life is fantastic! I don't have to worry about charging the phone all day unless I start playing games. On average with normal use, checking email, texting, web surfing, phone calls, going to WC every time there are new articles listed on the live tile, I never have to worry about charging or topping off. I will have anywhere from 30% to 40% still left at the end of the day.

Driving with music streamed over Bluetooth was usually a drain even while charging wirelessly on the Lumia 820, with the 830 it keeps the same charge. Same with using Navigon GPS, even while charging with the wireless charger the 820 would drain, the 830 keeps the same charge it had.

Went to Disney World for a week 2 days after buying the phone, the first couple of days I would use a Nikon P&S pocket camera for most of my pictures and played around with the Lumia 830. I was so pleased with the pictures from the 830 that after 3 days I stopped carrying my Nikon P&S and solely used the Lumia 830 for the rest of the vacation! Took some video of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Hollywood Studios and it looks and sounds amazing.

Battery Saver as I type this:
Time since last charge 5 hours
Estimated time remaining 21 hours 7 minutes
WOW

I feel the Lumia 830 is a true flagship phone for how I use the phone. The design is great , screen is fantastic, phone never lags with the apps I use, battery life is great, camera is fantastic.

I agree. On a typical day with moderate to heavy use I end the day with about 30% left. Just finished my first business trip with it and it was great. Had about 40% left after near constant use for 6 hrs. (Got Cortana to track my flights, which was nice, too.)

Still very happy with my 830 after about six weeks.

I'm really impressed with my 830! I haven't felt the need to change a single setting in Battery Saver. I just let background processes do whatever they want, and battery life is still fantastic.

I'm still "learning" what the battery can do as I've only had the phone for a little over week (and it's so easy to just plunk it down on the charging plate that came with it), but so far battery life is fantastic.

At this moment, I'm sitting at 26 hours since my last charge with 55% remaining. That's with moderate/minimal usage. Pretty good.

I have mixed feeling with the battery. please note that I am coming from Lumia 720 which had a fantastic battery.

I only had the phone for 10 days so I'll keep using it and then give my final thought.

But I have one question for you guys: How much percentage do you lose at night when you sleep and wake up to work or school? (assuming you sleep for let's say 6-7 hours).

thanks

I have the same impression also coming from a 720. What is disconcerting is the very quick drop from 100% as soon as I take the phone off the charger. But the later discharge is more nuanced. I do find though that some of the apps that I use are quite battery intensive. Of course, I did not use those apps on the 720 so this is not really a fair comparison.

All in all, I would say that I would be confident of the 830's battery life for a period between 18-24 hours. Beyond that I would be very careful.

I agree with the OP, coming from a 820 myself i was really pleasantly surprised with the battery performance so far.
I am a light to medium user (more light then medium) so this phone carries me trough 2 day's no problem.
I love it!!

I'm getting about 12-18 hours use. I'm a heavy user, reading market news etc. Was pleasantly surprised by the battery, but nothing compared to the high end flagships.

The battery life was good till the last preview for developers update. Before the update at 100% charge it used to show 1.5 days as the standby time, now it shows less than a day. Not sure if something has gone wrong after the update. My 920 and 925 on the other hand have started showing better battery life. Standby on this phone is absolutely amazing though, literally no to very little battery drain overnight

I have the exact same problem with my 820!

I did a hard reset and things seemed to be ok but the I rolled back to a backup I had (to get my call log history back) and the battery drain issue reoccurred .... anyone have any definitive resolution to this?

Was considering buying a 925 as a result but it appears to SW related and not a HW problem

battery is amazing. but like ALL devices, if you play games, it seems it uses all system resources to its fullest and really drains the batteries.

but using it other than games, the battery life is amazing.

I got the same. but who cares. If you think about it, its correct:

100% means 100%. After you take it of the charger, it loses energy. And anything less than 100% is 99% and below...

Oh and mine says 33 hours left with 86% charge.
But people who look at this estimated time and think that's a useful information...well.....fail.
When I play 15 minutes it will drop 5 hours left...so where is the point looking at that crap. Same with laptops. Fully charged: 9 hours. Sure....

Well, I know my 830 lasts a whole day easily, if i don't play 3D games, stream videos or use gps.
I'm completely happy. Best I ever has.

Actually, this is somewhat puzzling. Earlier on my 720, when I would take it off the charger, it would be 100% and if I did not use it, it would be at 100% for a while. With my 830, when I take it off the charger at 100% within a few minutes it drops down anywhere between 99-97%. But, I should also mention that after that the battery drain - with using most apps and without - is quire conservative. It could be because the 830 has a larger screen that could be the cause - though I am not sure.
