Well that's better than I got from my local Microsoft store. I asked two people and got the "We'll have them when the carriers launch them" response. No demo units, either

The Surface tablet was nice though, at least I got to see that

Do the Microsoft stores do carrier upgrades like the Apples stores do or do you just have to buy them at full price?

I'd assume they'd have them per carrier. Surface tablets were pretty cool.

They will be in from the 9th-11th. Probably 9th in the mail and 11th in store.

Microsoft stores can do carrier upgrades as I upgraded my account to a HTC Titan last year for free during black Friday. Also I asked the rep at my store about locked and unlocked and he confirmed all Microsoft stores sell the phones carrier locked. So you would have to go through your carrier.

I just hope this phone shows up sooner than later. I want to get some real reviews on this site. I don't trust any professional reviewers. Need that hands on.

I went to the MS store today and 2 sales reps told me they had no idea. But they did know that they will have every W8 phone for every carrier in every color available. They actually didn't have a single phone there. They said their entire mission was to promote the surface. Which makes me wonder. Could MS have put back the release a week or 2 to concentrate on selling surfaces?

The rep did say go to AT&T or T-mobile they may have them. I did go to AT&T but the line was too big to wait and talk to anyone. There was a young guy picking up a new 900 for .99. His mac card wouldn't work, so they had to charge him $1.00 for the card to accept the transaction. :lol:
