950 or hp x3?

My dad is ready to upgrade from his Lumia 928. Should he go for the 950? Or the new hp x3? I think he would prefer the smaller size of 950. Also, price is half.

Or, should he wait for surface phone?

As long as you get the ATT-compatible ST SIM and fix up the APN settings once you're almost ready to go.

The price difference is pretty big. In the UK you can get the 950 for ?249.99 plus you can get ?40 cashback making it an even better deal.

If it's anything like the UK I would go for buying the Lumia 950 SIM Free and just get a SIM Only contract for calls, texts and data to get the best value

You can't use the ATT no contract phone on Straight Talk. The unlocked version is $399. Still a great deal.

I just picked up a 950 at the Microsoft store (because ATT online store was out of stock on black phones and no local ATT stores had any at all) and at the ATT price. I thought it would be as easy as the swap from my 920 to my 640, but the 950 uses a nano(?) SIM rather than the micro SIM. No problem. I just called 611, told tech my cell number, the IMEI of the new phone and the ICCID for the new SIM. All was switched over in under 5 minutes.

Don't forget to make sure Dad has a current backup!
