So I haven't actually made any playlists with it yet but I just wanted to confirm that if I make multiple playlists that contain some of the same songs, that song only gets synced once right?
I answered my own question in that one. And yes playlists can be manually or automatically be refreshed and they will then sync accordingly to your WP7.I would like to know how playlists sync too. My son listens to more top-20 pop. I wanted to make a playlist for him. Unfortunately, the Zune marketplace doesn't really have an actual top-20 playlist, just some "mixed tapes" things. Their playlists aren't what I'm looking for. If I make a playlist in the Zune software and sync it to my phone, can I update the playlist in the Zune software and have it automatically delete the removed songs and add the new songs? (this would go for SmartDJ playlists too)
Wow... I am surprised at how awesome these playlists are structured the first that I made was okay enjoyable, the second one even more so but the third that I made pretty much blew me away... Is there an algorithmic learning curve that it has? It seems every newer playlist I make seems to get better and better. I had never used SmartDJ or any type of service like it (except maybe last.fm but it didn't impress me it had the whole worlds music library at which is much easier to associate related types of music) but within my library which only has a couple thousand songs spanning across a handful of genres. That is impressive.
Why isn't MS marketing this!I have a Smart DJ playlist that I've saved on Zune and transferred to my phone. It's set to automatically change every 5 days and I haven't had problems syncing with my phone.
I can't wait until Mango when true Smart DJ is built in.
But see the thing is Pandora is like Last.fm and Slacker Radio where they easily have WHATEVER music at their disposal, in theory it should get closer matches than SmartDJ but in fact its quite the contrary I've seen those radio services go from AC/DC to 50 Cent lol. The one that surprised me the most was when it went from Metallica to some Portugese pop music lmao.I think it's Pandora-like in that it uses your likes and dislikes, so giving hearts or broken hearts helps.
Yeah when paired with Zune Pass it is an amazing experience that even Apple can't deliver lol.OMG, I just tried this and WOW! It created the playlist, then automatically download the songs that wasn't in my collection!
Right?! I had honestly thought it was a total gimmick when Apple first came out with "Genius" and now SmartDJ from Microsoft... So I said hey why not? It won't really cost me anything. Why isn't MS marketing this!
Yea I'd be listening to a Hollywood Undead station in Pandora and it'd keep playing John Mayer even after multiple dislikes. I'd scratch my head how acoustic pop related to rock and hiphop. But see the thing is Pandora is like Last.fm and Slacker Radio where they easily have WHATEVER music at their disposal, in theory it should get closer matches than SmartDJ but in fact its quite the contrary I've seen those radio services go from AC/DC to 50 Cent lol. Microsoft should get into that market for other platforms as we already have SmartDJ they can apply that algorithm to the app and use their Zune catalogue for the media that gets streamed and they can totally monetize it with ads.Yea I'd be listening to a Hollywood Undead station in Pandora and it'd keep playing John Mayer even after multiple dislikes.
